The South End is famous for its Victorian Architecture and was originally planned by the City of Boston to be a residential neighborhood that would help reduce the crowds in the Beacon Hill and downtown areas.

Today, Boston's South End, situated just outside of Back Bay and Downtown, is one of the city's most beloved and popular neighborhoods. Residents in this community are diverse, due to the fact that the South End has everything to offer its residents. Not only do Victorian brownstone buildings line the streets, as do many restaurants, boutiques, centers for the arts and nearly thirty parks. Tremont Street, which is sometimes referred to by locals as "Restaurant Row", offers cuisines from all over the world - Brazilian, African, Peruvian, Thai, Ethiopian, Japanese, French, India, Italian, and many others. The Boston Center for the Arts, Boston Medical Center, and Boston Ballet all call the South End their home.
